Aston Martin V12 Zagato

The Aston Martin V12 Zagato making its public debut at the Villa D’Este is the latest in a long line of special Aston Martins enhanced by the famous Italian coachbuilder and threatens to upstage even the one-off Ferrari 599 we reported on recently. That’s some claim but Zagato and Aston Martin have previous here, the iconic British brand having long benefited from Italian coachbuilding expertise since the adoption of Carrozzeria Touring’s ‘Superleggera’ aluminium bodywork introduced on the DB4 of 1958. This set the style for Aston Martins to this day but the Zagato tie-ups were more exclusive than this and first saw light as the DB4 GT Zagato. Not just a beauty, it was primarily a race car and, to this day, one of the most prized classics around. This new V12 Zagato comes half a century since that iconic Aston was launched and, like its predecessor, will be taking to the track while the firm officially gauges customer interest in a limited run of production cars.
