De Dion Bouton Quadricycle 1895
In 1900, the automotive industry of France counted 11 manufacturers, and many independent mechanics who motorcycles, tricycles and carts using components from different manufacturers to sell. A well known example is for a Dion, the motor at high speed in one of the frames Perfecta Darracq.
This vehicle is a fine example of a De Dion engine Perfecta. The engine, built in June 1900, 402 cc, 2 ¾ hp version with a water-cooled cylinder head. Perfecta executives came up with the steering wheel, pedals and hubs, but no saddle, engine, transmission, or wheels. All were purchased and installed by an assembler, most names lost in time. The transmission included a typical planetary gear Bozier two speeds and a cone clutch.
This vehicle has been converted to fly, has a later spray-type carburetor and tires slightly larger than the original, but remains true to the idiom. Enter once found, in 1992, it requires nothing more than the restoration, a task performed by Brian Joseph. It was once part of the John McMullen until 2007, when he was still estimated to be another collection - that of John O'Quinn. De Dion quadricycle popular vehicles as participants in the race to London-Brighton Veteran Car, and with very low mileage, this example will also be a wonderful contest entry next to his guardian.
