Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost 1907
The Holy Rolls-Royce Silver refers to both a model car and a car in this series. Originally called "40/50 hp" the chassis is made in Manchester Royce works, with production moving to Derby in July 1908, and also, between 1921 and 1926, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Chassis no. 60551, registered AX 201, the car was originally named "Silver Ghost". Other 40/50 hp cars were also given names, but the Silver Ghost title was taken by the press, and soon all 40/50s were called by name, a fact not officially recognized by Rolls-Royce until 1925, when the Phantom series was launched.
Henry Royce was probably not begin construction of the 'Best Car in the World "when he saw the design of the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. What he wanted was his hard work in six cylinders to replace" Thirty "with something more reliable , something sweet and quieter.
He succeeded so completely that the new car was unveiled at the Olympia Motor Silver Ghost and later, was the model of the longest running one next to the Ford Model T (and, much later, the VW Beetle and the Mini United Kingdom) - and certainly the most famous luxury cars in history. The Silver Ghost is so far the most desired model between the old car.
